Chinese First Secretary of Education visits ICL PDF Print E-mail

We are delighted to announce that the new First Secretary of Education at the Chinese Embassy in Wellington, Mr Peter WANG ShengGang, chose ICL Business School and Auckland English Academy as his first private school visits since taking up his post in Wellington.

He was accompanied by Mr Tom Gao, the Auckland Education Consul, who is relinquishing his post after five years, and Tom’s  replacement, Professor Hu YanChu.  Tom knows ICL well and was kind enough to accept our donation to the Wenchuan earthquake relief fund in May 2008.

ICL held a meeting for the dignitaries in the business school on Monday 30th August, with some 80 Chinese students currently studying at ICL and AEA.  They were introduced by Principal Ewen Mackenzie-Bowie and covered a range of topics concerning international education and student welfare and safety in New Zealand.  Tom Gao later commented on how impressed he had been with the level of interest the students demonstrated, and the quality of their questions.

The photographs show Tom Gao addressing the students and the group photo shows, from left to right, Mr Ewen Mackenzie-Bowie, Principal, Ms Sofia Zhang Danfeng, ECE student, Mr Tom Gao, Consul, Mr Peter Wang, First Secretary, Prof Hu Yanchu, Consul.

Visit of Mr Merl Perera from Sri Lanka PDF Print E-mail

ICL Business School was delighted to welcome Mr Merl Perera of Overseas Education Services, one of the most successful providers of advice to Sri Lankans looking for a diploma or degree programme in New Zealand. Over the last few months nearly 20 students from Merl have started courses at ICL Business School and we are delighted with their progress. Courses they are taking include the NZ Diploma in Business, Diploma in Business Computing, National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care and NZIM Diploma in Management. Most of the students hope to apply for permanent residence when they have graduated. Several already have their spouses with them in Auckland.

ICL celebrates their first graduation at the Queen St campus PDF Print E-mail

ICL Business School held its first graduation ceremony at the new Queen Street campus in May 2010, and for the graduates it was a testament to their success and very much in line with the motto of ICL Business School, “Through determination I excel”. There were graduates from all disciplines including Early Childhood Education, Business and IT, and it was an evening to celebrate their successes! For most of our students, ICL Business School is usually their first experience in New Zealand, where they have adjusted to a new country and new ways; juggling full-time study with part-time employment and of course making life-long friends along the way.

As the explanations reveal, most of the students are now moving onto further education, employment, or simply taking a break from studies until they decide what they intend to do next.

With every graduation it is sad to see familiar faces moving away but we know that eachstudent has gained not only a valuable qualification, but also gained life-long skills which will prepare them for the challenges ahead. ICL Business School wishes the recent graduates of May 2010 all the very best in their endeavours and hopes to keep track of their progress through the newly established Alumni network.

Congratulations and well done!
