Experience, interests, affiliations
Jason Jin has worked in multi-national corporates in the hospitality industry in New Zealand for over 10 years serving in the senior management level. His vast management experience covers the field of leadership, operations management, marketing and HR. Jason received his MBus in International Business and Management at AUT in 2012. After his over-a-decade journey in corporate management, he decided to go for a career change and became a lecturer. Jason has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate level courses in AUT and a number of other business institutes, he has also worked as a programme leader managing Level 7 business programmes. He believes that the best way of business education is incorporating real industry experiences with the theoretical concepts which is what he strives to do in his teaching.
Jason’s focus area of research is leadership under cross-cultural context. He is currently working on his PhD with the thesis Participative Leadership Behaviour among Managerial Leaders in State- Owned Enterprises and Privately-Owned Enterprises in China. The aim of this study is to investigate whether a participative leadership style has been adopted in Chinese State-Owned Enterprises and Privately-Owned Enterprises and to what extent managers exhibit the characteristics of participative leadership behaviours, as well as the differences of participative leadership behaviour characteristics between the two types of enterprises.
