Lecturer and Student Learning Advisor

MA Strategic Studies La Trobe, CELTA Languages International, Grad Dip University of New South Wales, Graduate, Australian Joint Services Staff College, BA Reading.

I have travelled very widely and have lived and worked in a number of different countries, including the U.K., Germany, Australia, the Philippines, the United States, Canada and New Zealand. Having taught for a number of years at Monash University, I joined the Australian federal public service, focusing on international relations and strategic-level security issues. For five years I was a director of studies at the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, Australian Defence College, Canberra. Here the focus was on delivering the senior course in Australia for military officers and government officials engaged in national security issues. After moving to New Zealand, I initially worked as a strategic planner for the former North Shore City Council, before joining Auckland City Council where I was editor of its annual reports and a range of other documents.

Having obtained a CELTA qualification, I joined ICL in 2014 and recently became Learning Advisor for the Graduate Business School. I thoroughly enjoy this work, where my aim is to assist students – particularly those who are experiencing learning difficulties – and to increase their levels of self-confidence and proficiency in Business English to get the most out of their time at the College.
